How is this possible…..they have had 13 years to work on this game….how can it have soo many bugs.
I received my Duke Nukem Forever Balls Of Steel Edition on Friday and raced home in excitement…After 13 years of waiting (wars have been fought and won in less time) it was finally here.
I put the disc in and of course, an update, only 30mb, not too bad. Then it had to install almost 5gb of data. I understand that bluray discs are massive and some of the game has to be stored on the hard-drive, but why can it not install in the background as I am playing or at least during the intro scene.
Upon starting the game (finally) I chose medium difficulty and started the game….the first few scenes were good: re-fighting the boss from the original game, clever humour and being able to interact with alot of the environment.
The fun stopped when the proper game started – it turned into a bland, bug-filled corridor shooter….everything is too fast to hit, duke is far too heavy, the collision detection is poor and the AI is terrible.
Ok I thought. let’s see if there is an aim assist button, as it is really difficult to hit enemies as they are warping or flying around. Looking in the menu, I found an aim assist button which was already activated….BUT DOES NOT WORK!
Gearbox have has more than enough time to finish this game….I should not have to wait for it to be patched to work properly…they obviously rushed it out the door trying to cash in on the ‘it’s finally coming out’ hype.
I will admit I am only up to the 4th or 5th mission, but if I have to force myself to play a game to see if it gets better, the game has failed. And even if a patch is applied to fix the aiming, this will not fix the graphics or the layout of the game.
